Open Position: Minister of Music
JOB SUMMARY:
In
partnership with the Pastor, directs, plans, and manages the music ministry of
First Baptist Church. Ensures that the music ministry continues to grow in
accordance with FBC’s mission and vision. Primary job duties include:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Directs and oversees the music ministry/programs for First Baptist Church. Plays and/or oversees musicians for weekly Sunday Services, including special services that require music: Church Fellowships, Revivals, Christmas, VBS, etc.
2. Ensures selection of music aligns with weekly sermons.
3. Directs and oversees the scheduling of rehearsals for all FBC choirs.
4. In partnership with the Pastor, establishes standards for membership in the choir.
5. Arranges and may direct special music retreats for chorus members. Works with musicians and soloists to help develop talents.
6. Meets with Pastor on a regular basis and discusses progress of the music ministry.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: Typically three years experience in leading and directing church choirs. Adequate musical training and education needed.
Knowledge: Requires strong knowledge of music. Understands different voices (soprano, alto, bass, and tenor). Knowledge of how to read music, preferred. Biblical knowledge: able to align songs with weekly sermons as well as identify non-scriptural songs.
JOB CONDITIONS:
Membership: Must be a member (willing to become a member within 90 days) of First Baptist Church; regular attendance and tither. Participate in Sunday School and/or Bible Study on regular basis.
Working Conditions: Sundays and choir rehearsal days. Participate in special services/programs, as scheduled.
