Sister Kristin Marie Lynem
The daughter of Brother Timothy Lynem and Mrs. Licia Thompson, has been selected one of the 2009 W. U. B. D. A. James P. Humphrey Scholarship Awards. Sister Lynem is a 2009 graduate of Princeton High School in Sharonville and she lives in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. She is a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Glendale, where the Reverend Kendall Anthony Logan is the pastor.
Upon review of Sister Lynem's application it was determind that she met all of the requirements for applying for this award with a busy athletic, academic and church schedule and still makes time to volunteer in order to help others and is a mentor.
ACTIVITIES:
SCHOOL: National Honor Society, Student
Council Secretary, Vikings, Mentor for Sophomores,
Varsity Soccer and Track
CHURCH: Usher Ministry, Sunday School, Pastor Honor Disciples
HONORS such as: Math Award, Academic Excellence and Honor Roll.
Athletics Awards: Selected by the varsity coach as one of 2009's
co-captains and she received the Superintendent's Award. As a member of
the soccer team, she received the All Academic Award, First and Second Team
All-League as well as the Most Valuable Player; In Track she received First the
Third Team All-League Honors.
Sister Lenem submitted letters of recommendations from her pastor, her high school counselor and an educator. Each recommendation marveled at her overall achievement in education, sports, the community and her church. They presented a well rounded young lady with potentials to achieve greatly in college and be a belessing to the society.
The committee notes that she ranks 48th in a class of over 400 with an overall GPA of 3.5 SAT 1430 and ACT 21.
Kristin impressed the committer again because she applied for and received a number of scholarships based upon her application, educational excellence, dedication, commitment and leadership skills, including but not limited to the University of Kentucky, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Greater Cincinnati Links, Inc. and her church, Mt. Zion Baptist in Glendale.
The 44th Moderator, Pastor James E. Pankey and the 2009 Scholarship Application Committee is proud to present to the W. U. B. D. A. 's family, Sister Kristin Lynem as a 2009 Scholarship recipient. She plans to attend the University of Kentucky to become an Optometrist or pursue a career in Sports Medicine.
